Techniques:
Patty uses many techniques in her work. Additionally she may suggest the use of the following:
• Sandtray
• Play Therapy
• EMDR
• Focusing and Visualization
• Mindfulness
Sandtray:
She may suggest the use of a sandtray. Using this technique, clients select figures to arrange in a tray of sand to
create a picture or story that reflects inner and outer struggles, resources, and wisdom. Patty finds that this is
especially helpful when experience is hard to put into words. Back To Top
Play Therapy:
With children, Patty will often use play therapy, as play is their natural language. Back To Top
EMDR:
When clients have been impacted by trauma, she may recommend the use of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
, a hypnotic technique that helps clients decrease the pain and distress related to trauma. Back To Top
Focusing and Visualization:
These are techniques that help people to look deeply inside to heal trauma, relieve emotional distress, and build deeper
awareness of self. Back To Top
Mindfulness:
This is a practice that seeks to help people be fully in the present. Back To Top
